SATURDAY MAIL DELIEVERY TO BE ELIMINATED IN AUGUST

            FIRST IT WAS CUTTING RURAL POST OFFICE HOURS, AND NOW THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE HAS ANNOUNCED ANOTHER COST SAVING MOVE ON WEDNESDAY MORNING.

 

              THE POSTAL SERVICE HAS ANNOUNCED THEY WILL ELIMINATE REGULAR MAIL DELIVERY NATIONWIDE

 

              THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERIVCE SAYS THE MOVE WOULD HELP SAVE THE AGENCY ABOUT 2 BILLION DOLLARS ANNUALLY AND WOULD TAKE PLACE THIS COMING AUGUST.

 

              RURAL POST OFFICES WINDOW HOURS WERE JUST RECENTLY CUT FROM 8 HOURS A DAY SIX DAYS A WEEK, TO NOW AS LOW AS TWO HOURS A DAY AT SOME LOCATIONS.

 

             POST OFFICES IN THE KNCY LISTENING AREA WHO CUT THEIR WINDOW HOURS RECENTLY INCLUDE: ELK CREEK, NEMAHA, BROWNVILLE, CRAB ORCHARD, AMONG OTHERS.  

 

              LINCOLN POST MASTER KERRY KOWALSKI SAYS HE CERTAINLY UNDERSTANDS THE FRUSTRATION THAT RESIDENTS WITH RURAL POST OFFICE.

              KOWALSKI SAYS IT IS VERY INEXPENSIVE TO HAVE A POST OFFICE BOX AT YOUR LOCAL POST OFFICE, COSTING YOU ANYWHERE BETWEEN 25 TO 30 DOLLARS FOR SIX MONTHS.

           THE MOVE WILL OFFICIALLY TAKE PLACE ON AUGUST 5TH.
